Car Donation The Answer to Disposing of Unwanted Truck
If I hadn’t been looking for a convenient way out of a jam, I never would have learned about the car donation program.I was trying to sell my pickup truck. I couldn’t understand why it wasn’t selling. It was priced right and I’d placed ads in all the local newspapers and Car and Truck Classifieds. It was only 10 years old, and still in great shape.
My new car was going to be ready fairly soon, and I really needed to get rid of the pickup before then. Living in a condo, I only had the one parking spot and being a single guy, it just didn’t make sense to pay extra for another stall. None of my friends were looking for a truck and it simply wouldn’t sell. I was in a pickle.
I was bending a workmate’s ear about my truck sale woes one morning, when he made a suggestion. He wasn’t sure if I really needed the money for my truck, or if I was just trying to get rid of it, but he told me about another option: I could donate my truck on behalf of the National Veterans Services Fund (NVSF).
I decided to find out more and discovered that the National Veterans Services Fund had been around since the late 1970’s. Before they came into existence, there wasn’t any social or health organization available for veterans, let alone one that focused on the whole family, like the NVSF did.
At one time, the organization had been called the Vietnam Veterans Agent Orange Victims. When Persian Gulf veterans and other war veterans started asking about them, the charity changed their name to what it is today, the National Veterans Services Fund. They wanted people to know that they were there for all veteran families.
The more I found out about this veterans charity, the more I thought it would be a great idea to take part in their car donation program since it turns out that they accept all types of vehicles; cars, trucks, boats, planes, motorcycles and even RVs.
Through the Internet, I found a car donation service center called Easy Donate a Car. I liked that they kept the car donation process fairly simple and handled everything for me. After talking to one of their reps on the phone, I was confidant I had made the right choice. They even arranged to have my truck picked up at no cost to me and I was quite pleased to learn I could claim the car donation as a deduction on my taxes.
I tend to believe that there is a reason for everything. That old pickup didn’t sell as I initially wanted it to because it was meant for something better. Making a car donation relieved me of the headache and worry trying to sell the truck and I feel pretty good that some veteran family out there will also benefit from me taking the time to make a car donation.
