Company Leased Car Donated To Charity
As an insurance saleswoman, I do a great deal of traveling. Not only do I need to travel for my business, I also make personal visits to homes in order to discuss policies with my clients and to find the best insurance coverage possible for them.
As a result of all of my traveling, I go through vehicles pretty quickly.
I have found that the best option for me, from a financial standpoint, is to lease-to-own my vehicles.
That way, if anything goes wrong with the vehicle, I am covered and I never have to be worried about being without a car to travel back and forth with. In addition, I can write off all of my vehicle costs as a business expense.
After working to the point of ownership with my first lease-to-own vehicle, I realized I needed to upgrade to a newer car.
I have a certain image that I need to maintain for my business and to my clients, which means driving around an older model vehicle is not the best choice for me. In addition, I need the security of knowing I am covered with a lease vehicle.
So, I decided I needed to start looking into another company vehicle for my business. The question remained however, what should I do with my older car?
I knew I wouldn’t have a use for a second car since a new leased vehicle was all I required. Not only that, I didn’t want to have to carry the extra insurance on my old vehicle or have to find a place to store it when not in use.
To me the best option was simply to get rid of the older car. Since I am always on the move with my job, I didn’t have the time to try to sell my car and I really didn’t feel like going through the hassles associated with trying to get rid of it. That was when I decided just to give my car away by making a car donation.
I remembered having heard on the news one day about people that take their old vehicles and make a car donation to charity. I decided that this would be perfect for my needs.
I wouldn’t have to worry about trying to sell the car and I could get it out of my driveway and get rid of carrying insurance on two vehicles.
I did a quick Internet search and found the Easy Donate A Car website where I learned about the non-profit charitable organization, the National Veteran’s Services Fund. This non-profit charitable society accepts car donations made through a car donation processing center.
The car donation representative explained that the processing center would arrange to pick up and tow the car donation. They would also handle all of the paper work, plus the sale at auction on behalf of the NVSF charity.
I felt great that I made a car donation knowing that the proceeds raised would go to help veterans and veteran families. I always felt that our great country owed a lot of debt and gratitude towards the valiant men and women who served to protect our freedom and democracy.
I now have a new company vehicle that looks great for my business and I take great comfort in knowing that my car donation may have helped out a veteran family somewhere.
I also liked the fact that I could get a tax benefit for the value of my car donation. Every little bit helps as they say.
